- First uninstall the existing version by typing:
cd /var/sadm/prod/com.sun.studio_10- Run the batch uninstaller

- Next, put the Tar file in the directory in which you wish to install. Untar it. Keep the tar file in the same directory as the installer file.
- Run the installer and follow instructions.
